Samuel Dillon and Katie Baker are Agents of Paradox! They travel through time and space, closing wormholes to preserve the timestream.

Sam hopes to save the lives of his wife and son. Katie wants to save herself from heartbreak. But when Chagatai Khan - the cyborg son of Genghis Khan - attempts to conquer all of human history, they must come to terms with what they have lost and choose saving civilization over changing the past. It’s a story about not dwelling on tragedies, big and small, because going back is never as easy as it seems.

Agents of Paradox eBook Jack McGuigan, John Fortune, Vanessa Kirby Reviews

I originally backed the first issue on kickstarter and was immediately drawn I to it.

Think back to the future mixed with quantum leap, some Dr who, with individual character stories of loss and revenge and a time travelling bond, in a clean and effective art package and that's agents of paradox.

The writing is clever and concise, covering more in 5 issues than most comics could hope for, packing each page with character and story, but never feeling rushed. It doesn't take long to get a feel for what these characters are really about, boiled down to their essence, immediately. That said, they grow throughout. The running theme of regret and how to deal with it is throughout, and dealt differently by each person you meet. Very solid story.

The art is wonderful as well. Fortune manages very complex concepts with a simple, cartoon-like stylization. It's clean when it needs to be, gritty when it needs grit, epic scale when they need all of creation in view, and personal when saying tender goodbyes. Storytelling is clear and action races.

Colorist vanes sa Kirby shines as well. I'm no color expert, not going to pretend I am, but I know enough to recognize when someone's got it. You can tell where you are just from the color in the scene, it never distracts, but leads you through the page and what is happening. For example, at one point our heroine is alone to deal with a wormhole, and the pages are awash with blue to start. As she fights her way to the problem, getting close and closer, it slowly becomes more intense and becomes more and more red, until the whole page is black inks and crimsons. And the whole book is like that.

Congratulations to McGuigan, Fortune, and Kirby on the great book. I recommend it highly for anyone needing a solid story of adventure on their shelf or in their collection
